A concert of Baroque music, with the Missa Tempore Quadragesimae by Michael Haydn, detour by the French Melody, arranged for choir (Hugo, Wilder or Bussine) through delicate chords and melodies (of which Offenbach’s Barcarolle is a reflection). Finally contemporary music, with the American composer Dan Forest, who brings to the day compositions combining fervor of words and syncopated rhythms, directly inspired by Bernstein’s West Side Story!

Dominique Rodriguez – Piano, Jacques Charpentier – Musical direction

TsanTa

Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes

The TsanTa vocal trio (“chant” in Occitan phonetics of the Limousin) is gracefully immersed in the treasures of Occitan tradition, extracting from its depths the most exquisite jewels, which they adorn with a modern touch.
Émeline Marcon, Louise Le Creurer and Julie Calleau became friends during their musical studies in Bordeaux. After a decade, fate brought them together to explore the tales and songs in Occitan language, inherited from their native lands of Limousin, Lot-et-Garonne and Gascony. Their magical instrument: the voice, resonating in harmony with their quest to reconnect with the primitive essence of humanity and nature.
Practicing the sacred art of polyphonic singing, they decorate these stories and ancestral melodies with contemporary ornaments,
Thus, a new light is shed on the treasures of Occitania. Their arrangements, inspired by their musical influences and formations, breathe new life into these timeless relics.
TsanTa, singing in Occitan, merges three voices into an enchanting harmony, thus revealing the splendors of a long-forgotten world. (credit text – Palmer’s Rock)
